Increased Odour of Chlorine

Good evening, residents may have noticed an increased odour of chlorine in the water recently.

The water operator has reported that the lake is now in its turn over period and this actually gives better water quality than in the summer season and requires less chlorine to disinfect the drinking water.

Field testing has shown that the system reaches much higher free available chlorine as the water quality improves. Small adjustments have been made to lower the dose rate. There was however an issue with siphoning chlorine from the holding tank due to a small leak in a check valve, this causes what is referred to as a "Slug". Some residents may experience this depending on the flow and the time of correlation of the user. The problem has been resolved and the system will balance out most likely within the next 24 hours as levels return to normal.

Field testing has confirmed that chlorine levels are within normal operating conditions; howevery may be more than what some residents are used to or an individuals sensitivity to chlorine.

Thank you
